It is with great sadness that Grupo Bimbo announces the passing of Don Roberto Servitje Sendra (1928–2025), in Mexico City at the age of 97. He was not only one of our founders, but our first associate, and a key figure in the history of our company.
Don Roberto leaves behind an invaluable legacy. He was a man of strong values and deep convictions, generous in his interactions and unwavering in his purpose. With human warmth and business discipline, he inspired and led thousands of associates in building a company he always envisioned as a great family.
Humble, approachable, and committed to the common good, he was a team builder, mentor to leaders, and a cultivator of values. At every step, he reminded us that true success is measured by the positive impact we generate on people and the communities where we operate. His discreet yet powerful leadership left an indelible mark.
A self-taught man with a calling for service, he was passionate about mechanics, painting, and lifelong learning. Thanks to his leadership, the company strengthened its technological capabilities, professionalized its processes, and established management principles that remain in place to this day. His vision extended beyond our organization, as he served on prominent business boards in Mexico and abroad.
Don Roberto began his career at Grupo Bimbo as a Sales Supervisor, later becoming a cashier, and eventually founded the Vehicle Department, which he championed. He held various positions within the company, including General Manager in Guadalajara (1956), Monterrey (1961), and Mexico City (1963), as well as Deputy General Director (1969), CEO (1978), and Chairman of the Board (1994–2013).
On behalf of the entire Grupo Bimbo family, we extend our deepest condolences to his sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
The memory of Don Roberto will live on as that of a man of integrity, vision, and generosity, whose life served as an inspiration to thousands. Today, we celebrate his legacy and will honor his memory by continuing to follow his example, with the same commitment and dedication with which he always worked for the well-being of others.
Mission Accomplished!
